Pattern · Product pageLow-stock and urgency messages. What brands are testing.
Low-stock and urgency messages tell the shopper to act now — “Only a few left”, “Selling fast”, “Limited availability” — so the decision is not put off. ABSee has recorded 10–20 brands testing it between May and October 2026.

What it is
A shopper who likes a product can still decide to think about it later. An urgency message gives a reason not to wait: the item is selling quickly, the stock is low, or the product is only available for a while. It is usually a single line or a small badge, placed where the shopper is about to choose a size or press the button.
Every experiment in this group sits on the product page, almost always in or next to the buy box. Messages that count recent buyers or viewers without a call to act now are covered under social proof.
What brands tried
The experiments in the record fall into a few themes, all seen between May and October 2026. No brand is named in this section.
“Selling fast” badges. Most are “selling fast”, “going fast” or “in high demand” badges or strips, usually placed right above the add-to-bag button.
Low-stock lines. Several are true low-stock messages — “Only a few left”, “Almost gone”, “Limited quantities” — under the size picker, above the variants or under the button.
Urgency with a count. A couple combine the urgency line with a count of recent buyers or views, where this pattern overlaps with social proof.
Scarcity as a product fact. A couple frame scarcity as part of the product rather than a stock level, such as “exclusively online, limited availability”.

What this page does not tell you
- Whether it works. There are no outcome rates here. Outcomes — whether each brand kept the change — are tracked per experiment and are part of the Intelligence plan.
- Whether it will work for you. Your shoppers, prices and range differ from the brands in the record. A change one brand kept can fail on another site.
- Why a brand decided. One experiment is one brand's decision. The record shows what the brand did next, not the measured lift behind it.
ABSee is experimentation intelligence for ecommerce: a record of real experiments run by 1,150+ brands, with the page before, the version tested, and whether it was kept. How the record is built.
How to use this
Treat this page as evidence for a hypothesis, not an answer.
- Bring it to your own hypothesis. Name the problem on your own product page that this change would address, and for which shoppers.
- Check the record for your category. Look for brands like yours, the version they tested, and what they did next.
- Test it yourself. Your own experiment is the only result that applies to your site.

Do low-stock and urgency messages increase conversion?
