What gets tested on this page

The product page is where a shopper decides whether to buy, and brands test almost every part of it. The groups below are how the record sorts those experiments; the table above shows which come up most.

Product story, details and cross-sell. The description, the product details and how they are laid out, and what else is suggested alongside the item.

Buy box and add-to-cart button. The block that holds the price, the options and the button, and what sits next to it.

Imagery and media. The product photos, video and other media, and how the gallery presents them.

Price and discount display. How a price, a sale price and a saving are written, and whether the saving is shown at all.

The other groups. Size and fit guidance, urgency and stock messages, sticky add-to-cart, social proof and reviews, delivery and returns reassurance, and colour swatches come up less often. Most of them have their own pattern page, listed below.

What this page does not tell you

  • Whether it works. There are no outcome rates here. Outcomes — whether each brand kept the change — are tracked per experiment and are part of the Intelligence plan.
  • Whether it will work for you. Your shoppers, prices and range differ from the brands in the record. A change one brand kept can fail on another site.
  • Why a brand decided. One experiment is one brand's decision. The record shows what the brand did next, not the measured lift behind it.

ABSee is experimentation intelligence for ecommerce: a record of real experiments run by 1,150+ brands, with the page before, the version tested, and whether it was kept. How the record is built.

Questions

What do brands test most on the product page?

The groups that come up most in the record are the product story, details and cross-sell; the buy box and add-to-cart button; imagery and media; and how price and discounts are shown. Size and fit, urgency, sticky add-to-cart, social proof and reviews, delivery reassurance and colour swatches come up less often.

Which product page patterns have their own page?

Size and fit guidance, low-stock and urgency messages, sticky add-to-cart, social proof, and reviews on the product page. The other groups are in the record and can be searched there.

Does this show which product page changes work?

No. ABSee does not publish outcome rates for any pattern. The record shows what brands tried and, for each experiment, whether the brand kept the change; those outcomes are part of the Intelligence plan.

How current is this?

The groups and figures on this page are refreshed with the ABSee record, which is updated daily as new experiments are seen.
